There were many ways Africa Night could have begun in the year 2009. But without being consciously aware of it, we chose the best option! Or better said, Africa Night just picked up from where it stopped in 2008. We began this year with a spectacular live show from Friction a band fronted by the Ghana-born singer songwriter, Musah Haruna. As shows go by, this was one of the most satisfying live shows that has ever graced Africa Night. The group was very good but most of all, the guests seemed to really enjoy it too. For once no one came to us to complain about the music and every one actually was dancing along with the sound of Friction.
The beginning of every New Year always seems to be a reflection of how the rest of the year will be. If this is true, this year promises to be one of the most exciting but also one of the most challenging. Most exciting because the public seems more and more relaxed. We know of people who can no longer do without Africa Night. Also we are aware that ours is one of the few Africa music themed parties that is still thriving in The Netherlands. This however brings a challenge with it. It means a lot more people are going to be frequenting Africa Night in Tilburg. This may in turn mean that some are going to be those who have no regard for the simple rule of Africa Night.
You come to Africa Night for one reason alone – to enjoy yourself and not spoil the fun for the others. Which was what some guys attempted to do during the last Africa Night. Will anyone explain to me why a person leaves his house, pays to partake in a party and then makes a fool of himself by fighting? We have a policy at the Africa Night though; one strike and you are out. The guys who made fools of themselves will not be partaking in the fun again. That much is sure. We just hope this kind of incident will not be prevalent this year.
Back to the fun. This edition marked the first edition that DJ Aziz officially takes over as the DJ during Africa Night. He has surely started with a splash! Everyone was taken into the flow of the music he chose to play and they were full of praise for him at the end. We think judging from the compliments he got during this show, he can start his own fan club now! To the rest of our faithful guests, we are always thinking of ways to entertain you. In 2009, we hope to take Africa Night to the next level. Just watch this space!
