Maybe we should just rename Africa Night Nijmegen; Africa Night Roller-coaster! One month we are down, the next we are up both at sometimes breath taking speed. The last couple of months felt like ANN was down as far as numbers were concerned. Happily though even with lower numbers we were still having fun. Then comes September and the numbers go up again! Let the roller-coaster continue!
It was a colourful edition with people of all ages and race. When people are united by their love of (African) music, you are bound to have a wonderful experience. There is though a phenomenon in Nijmegen that never ceases to amaze us. This is the fact of how many people arrange a night out with their friends, go to the trouble of looking nice, get to the door and decide to go back home again! It’s like; what’s the point? It was even more common during this edition. If all who turned back at the door had gone in, we might have had to turn people back because it would have been too crowded inside!
Happily though, those who decided to stay were in the majority and they looked as if they enjoyed themselves. As far as we can recall in Nijmegen, this was the first time that almost everybody was still inside as of closing time. Sometimes you enjoy the roller-coaster so much you don’t want it to end. Thank you all for letting us entertain you.
PS1: To those who always want us to go on a little (an hour) longer, we feel you! If you all agree to come an hour earlier from now on, we promise you one extra hour of fun. In other words, we are open at 22:00 hours. If you all arrive before 23:00 hours, we will all have 4 or 5 hours of fun instead of the 2 to 3 hours of fun we are having now because people come late. Do we have a deal? Let’s be early in October.
