Africa Night – The Happy Nomad.

As Africa Night goes, this one was very strange in both a positive and weird kind of way. The strangely positive part is that people actually came on time this time around. And the house was already full before midnight. It was the beginning of the cold winter months so the coat lady at the door had her work really cut out this time around. Sometimes people came in 2s, sometimes in 10s but by the end of the night, the house was really full. This time around we brought the video show back to add extra dimension to the night.
Africa Night
There is a real danger of sounding boring every month when this piece is written. After all, how many times can one possibly write that Africa Night is really great and all that? But the truth is, the atmosphere at this edition was really electrifying. It was the Africa Night of the dancers and the fun lovers. When the DJ and the crowd are on top of their game, one is blessed with a show that really breathes musical harmony and sheer joy. You just have to see how some of the pictures capture the spirit of Africa Night.
Africa Night
There is a also the fascinating chain reaction that is triggered by people who “accidentally” came to Africa Night once and liked it. We could count 5 sets of people at this edition who “discovered” Africa Night just a couple of months ago. Since then, they have been bringing new friends and generating all sorts of positive publicity for Africa Night. Sometimes, we are just perplexed at the length others will go to come to the show. But we will not bore you with the details.
Africa Night
The weird thing about this Africa Night edition was the two pieces of news that we got this time around. One concerned the death of a guy from Senegal who was on a short holiday in The Netherlands and visited our show last month. He has heard about the show in Senegal, he said and always looked at the monthly pictures. Now he was glad he could be at our show in person. And now he is no more. He passed away before he could return to Senegal. We hope he has found peace wherever he is now.
Africa Night
The other piece of news is a little cryptic. Africa Night has always been the happy nomad. We move around a lot just to stay around a lot. We have been like a child inseparable from its loving parent. Home is always the sweetest place to be for such a child. However, the period is approaching when Africa Night will be of age and will have to break the umbilical cords that have restricted its freedom and movement. Home is for a nomad sweet, but the freedom to discover new pastures is even sweeter for the musical nomad. The Africa Night train goes on. It waits only for those who are die-hard lovers. The next couple of months will test all of our resolve! If you understand this last part of our write-up please drop us a comment! We may buy you a beer at the next Africa Night!
Africa Night
Whatever happens, the next Africa Night will be one to remember. We promise you that. Just bring your dancing shoes!
