Let’s start from The End!

Where do we start? Okay. Let’s start this time from the end! There used to be a time when if we played a particular song at Africa Night, the guests knew it was the last number of the evening. That was long ago. When we were still at the first ever Africa Night location, Partycentrum Albatros better known as the Boat, the song was The Sweet Mother (Soukous Stars) remix. In the Bosvreugd it used to be Lucky Dube – Ding Ding Licky Licky Licky Bong. Those were the days! People always got on the floor to be part of the last number. That was long ago! For reasons unknown, we skipped this tradition in Partycentrum Oase.

Africa Night
Since last month (October) we have decided to bring this old tradition back. While nobody seemed to have noticed last month, in November people certainly took notice. The song the deejays are playing as the last song during Africa Night Tilburg is Vulindlela by Brenda Fassie. It is a South Africa song that cuts across boundaries. It is one every one can relate to. In fact our guests from Southern and Eastern Africa have developed a kind of easy-to-follow-dance-moves to the song that everyone always joins in the fun. It is the Africanised version of the Electric Slide. This is part why we have adopted the song. Last Saturday everybody who was still there at the end joined the fun! What fun it was!

The Africa Night revival continues. November is normally a month we fear because traditionally if has always been a lean month. It is usually the month when the least people come to Africa Night. This year, when at 23:00 hours the first guests were yet to arrive, we thought it was going to be the same story. But just take a look at the pictures and you will see it was almost a full house. Sometimes, like last Saturday, the music just goes to another level. And when the guests allow the music to take control of their bodies, the result is always magical.

If you are an old(er) Africa Night guest and November was the first time you came for the first time this year, you might be forgiven if you thought you were at a new Africa Night. Just like the past couple of months, there are more people discovering the longest running Africa theme-party in Europe! And it is a mix of young and old. The ladies are outnumbering the men every time. (Note to the male players reading this and thinking of coming the next time in search of some new “trophies”, don’t forget to bring your wives and girlfriends with you!)

For all of those thinking of coming in December, come very early. We are not responsible if you came late and miss out on the extremely limited edition of the Africa Night December mix CD. In fact this year we are going to print less than 100. We will not print any extra copy. The master tape will be destroyed to be sure we won’t be tempted! The date of the next show is Saturday 20-12-2014. The show begins as always at 22:00 hours. We have been listening to the mix and we can assure you it is one you don’t want to miss.

Talking of which; to all who are reading this and want to be sure of getting the CD, the CD premieres this year during Africa Night Rotterdam on Saturday December 6th 2014 (check http://africanight/rotterdam.nl for the address and more). Everyone who comes to Africa Night Rotterdam on that day is guaranteed a copy of the CD!
Africa Night
Lastly, Africa Night Productions would like to thank everyone who helped make Africa Night Tilburg a huge success in November. Without you, there would be no Africa Night. See you in Rotterdam on 06-12-2014 or/and in Tilburg on 20-12-2014.
