The Africa Night 2010 season has just truly begun. The year 2010 will be a very exciting and defining year for Africa Night. We have made the conscious effort to add another city (Rotterdam) to the Africa Night family. Starting form Saturday 13th of March 2010, Africa Night will also be held in Rotterdam; the second biggest city in The Netherlands.

But to the business at hand; the January 2010 edition of Africa Night will be remembered as the dancers’ edition. Even though the weather was really uncooperative (snow and slippery again), we had an almost full house. Even after almost 12 years of doing this, you never know what to expect. To our very pleasant surprise, the party people just claimed the dance floor this time around.
It was as if people just came to dance and every other thing was secondary. Some were a bit concerned about the news/rumours that Africa Night was going to stop permanently. But after assuring them that the real news is that we are moving to another (bigger and better) location, the only thing left for them to do was to take the dance floor hostage!

Normally the guys dancing to the Mbalax (Senegalese dance) always steal the shows with their cameos during the Africa Night. They just start to do their stuff spontaneously and people always formed a circle around them. It is always a spectacle to enjoy. The January edition of Africa Night was in that respect not very different. However, the reason I am writing about this is that during this edition, some guys just decided to form their own Coupe Decale dance circle. Coming just after the Mbalax, it was a spectacle to enjoy. Who needs expensive live shows when we have our unscripted performances in the house?
