The real souls of Africa Night

Why is there a need to write a blog after every Africa Night? That is a question we are often asked. Few people read the blogs anyway so why bother. Well the major reason is that it is a sort of diary we keep. Going back to September 2004 when the first one was written, we have tried to capture the essence of every Africa Night so that in time we could also look back and remember certain things about any particular night. In other words, we write the history of Africa Night down as it happens.

On the other hand, it is a kind of extra service we offer to those who could not be at Africa Night in any particular month. By reading the blog, those who were not at Africa Night could read about how the show was. Those who were present could relive the experience again before the raw pictures of the night comes out at 22:00 hours the Mondays after. This month marks the 13th anniversary of the Africa Night blog. We were blogging before it became a fashion.

If anyone needed answers with regards to the philosophy behind Africa Night, they should have been at the September 2017 edition of Africa Night Tilburg. When young and old can dance together in the same space, when people feel free and safe to come to Africa Night, when Africans and non-Africans can enjoy the same music, when everyone leaves their egos at home, when  dancing and having a great time once a month is still the main reason why people come, then we are doing justice to the vision and philosophy we had when we began in 1998. Of course some come there for some other reasons too. But as long as people bring their good mood and their dancing shoes, Africa Night will always be an event with a beautiful heart.

You only need to look at the videos in this blog to see who the real souls of Africa Night are. They are the people from all continents who converged in Tilburg to celebrate togetherness on the dance floor. Did you see the Spanish ladies and guys having fun? And did you notice the guys from Equatorial Guinea and from Niger? Did anyone notice the Japanese lady in the African prints who was there to say goodbye because she was returning to Japan after spending some years in Holland and coming regularly to Africa Night? And did you notice our guests from St Martin who took time off from worrying about the hurricane to dance the night away? Friends from Germany and people from Belgium and the usual potpourri of guests from all over Africa and the rest of the world?  No hierarchy, all colours of the rainbow bonding together as one.

We had fun seeing you all have fun. And on 7th  October the fun will continue in Hechtel as we continue the Africa Night Belgium journey. We hope that you will continue to paint a beautiful canvas on the dance floor. Whatever happens, we hope to see you again next month either in Tilburg or in Hechtel! And oh yeah, we have the best DJ anywhere in the world. Period!
