This latest edition of Africa Night had two themes running through it. One was the Muslim fasting period that started a day before the Africa Night. This meant that we expected that a couple of the regular guests will be missing. Last year’s Ramadan edition of the Africa Night drew the least guests in the six and half year history of the show. There was therefore a kind of apprehension about not knowing what was going to happen this time around. In the event, it turned out to be another successful and most enjoyable Africa Night. There were about twenty guests less than average but the atmosphere was just as electrifying as usual.
The other major happening as far as this edition of Africa Night is that Wilf and Trish Mbanga were attending Africa Night for the last time before moving to England. Wilf is an exiled writer from Zimbabwe who had been living and writing in The Netherlands for the past year. He and his wife (Trish) have also been regular visitors to the Africa Night. In their time here we’ve also been privileged to entertain their daughter and son. They always brought some kind of presence to the show. We will be missing them a lot and we wish them a nice time in their new place of abode. To Trish and Wilf, two of our most unassuming guests in the past year, we salute you.
