There we go dancing again! First let’s use this opportunity to wish you all a great 2013. All the best of good health and love are what we wish upon you. Make this year one to remember. Having said that, this Africa Night year got off to a good start in Nijmegen. Traditionally, January is a low-turnout, quiet and coming-by month not only for Africa Night but for the whole of the entertainment industry. That is sometimes because of all the hassles of the month of December when people always gave more money out than they intended.
With our years of experience we were ready for a slow night. And it started very slow. The first guests began arriving well past 23.00 hours. At other times, we might have panicked and held our hearts. But Nijmegen is also Nijmegen. People always seem to take their time to arrive. (It has been that way in Nijmegen from the beginning. So we have decided to go with the trend. Africa Night Nijmegen will now begin at 23.00 hours starting from February). By midnight however, there were enough people inside to throw a big party. At the end of the evening we had a broad smile on our faces because the turnout exceeded what we privately predicted.
We wrote this before; the numbers do not matter in Nijmegen. Once the people in the house invade the dance floor, they mostly stay there. It was one big party. That is the beauty of Africa Night Nijmegen (ANN). This edition was not different. We are convinced ANN has a great future once the people begin to know what they’ve been missing. Encouragingly, as with its big sister Africa Night Tilburg, Africa Night Nijmegen keeps attracting people from far and near. We had people coming from as far as Ermelo, Zeewolde, Amsterdam, Cologne (Germany), Paris (France) etc. In its own way, at its own pace ANN is chatting its own course and doing it its own way. We, at Africa Night, are very happy about that.
Saturday 2nd February 2013 is our next date in Nijmegen. Let’s meet again and set the floor on fire!
