Sometimes even in a commercial business, numbers are not always everything. Sometimes it is the underlining things that make all the difference in the long run. So it was during this Africa Night Nijmegen. We had anticipated that the numbers were not going to be great compared to the last couple of months. This was because it was the first week of the school vacation when take the time off for a deserved rest in places far and near. Africa Night Nijmegen is still too young and fragile to have the resilience of its big sister Africa Night Tilburg. Tilburg with its long and reliable tradition always makes people plan their vacations in a way that they would not miss the show. (Even with Tilburg, this year our fingers are firmly crossed because of the double whammy of vacation and the Ramadan which begins a day before Africa Night Tilburg).
So it was that we could not say we were disappointed with the turnout in Nijmegen because those who came (and they were more than we expected) had the best fun ever. And even though they came late as usual, they more than compensated for it by just staying fixed to the dance floor most of the time. The guests, the music and the deejay were just like one. The feedback that came from the guests was overwhelmingly positive and more than compensated for a commercially less successful night. We always knew that Africa Night is a marathon and not a sprint. So we are prepared for the long term. Rome was certainly not built in 8 months. Africa Night Tilburg has shown us what we can achieve if we stick to our guns and just stay focussed.
If you check the pictures and the videos out, you will see the reasons why we are very confident that Africa Night Nijmegen will in time become something of a gem just like in Tilburg. We hope to see you all again next month, 4-8-2012.
