The moment we realized that September edition Africa Night would fall right at the end of the Ramadan, we knew it was going though going. A considerable number of our clients are after all Muslims. Past experience has taught us that the Ramadan is always a moment when attendance at Africa Night is always the year’s lowest. The same was true of this edition. Low is however very relative. Even when attendance is lowest during our show, it is still higher than the highest attendances at comparable shows in other parts of the country.
High or low attendance, the Africa Night fun train goes always on. It was a show where we were reminded of how our clients do their best to make Africa Night the monthly place to be. This time around, we had to pick up 2 guys from the central train station in Tilburg who were coming there for the first time. These guys (one from Niger and the other from Gambia) live in Belgium. They heard of Africa Night from a Germany who has been to Africa Night a couple of times. That is the magic of Africa Night. It is the word of mouth from our guests that has made Africa Night what it is. Of course a couple of people who were there for the first time in August came this time with more of their friends. It makes us feel warm inside. Big thanks to all of you.
On a personal note, a cousin of ours came over from Africa to join us for this edition of Africa Night. But so did 4 of our friends from Germany. It is always nice when family or friends walk in to join in the Africa Night fun. This edition was permeated with an easy, nice and cosy atmosphere.
On a final note, this whole year, there has been one striking phenomenon at every edition of Africa Night. More than 70 % of all the visitors to any given Africa Night in 2009 have been new and first time visitors. Now if all those who have been to at least one edition of Africa Night since its inception were to one day all turn up, we will need to hire a large stadium to accommodate them!
