In the past couple of months, the organisation behind Africa Night has been working hard (mostly behind the scene) to move Africa Night to the next logical level. Most of the things we are working on will be subtle, some will be less subtle. It is work in progress. Some of them will be radical while some will go unnoticed. The whole purpose is to make the Africa Night experience more intensely enjoyable.
From midnight of Wednesday 1 April 2015 at 00:01 hours, the first of those less subtle things we have been working on; the new Africa Night website, will be launched. This new website looks a bit like the old one in the first instance. However, this is a more responsive website than the one we are retiring at 23:59 hours on Tuesday 31 March 2015. Responsive means that the website adapts to whichever system you are watching it on. It looks equally good on the PCs, on mobile phones, on tablets, phablets and laptops.
For us as organisation it also makes it easier to tweak and fix things on the website wherever we are. This new website is still work in progress so don’t be surprised if you see continuous changes on it in the coming months. What we have now is the foundation.
What is new? Here is just a few.
- First you will notice that the information on the website is about Africa Night Tilburg. It is because it is the first one we have finished. As soon as the other ones are finished they will go online.
- The slider at the front page is more modern.
- The menu is all in one place at the top of the page to make for easy and seamless navigation.
- As usual the website is bilingual. Once you figure it out, you’ll notice it makes it easier to navigate the website. Almost every menu has both a Dutch and an English button.
- You don’t have to go to Youtube now to see all of the videos. All the videos can be found on the Africa Night video link on the new website.
- The blog now opens easier and in the same page.
- There is a new search function on the page. You can easily find all the information you want without having to navigate through the whole website.
- Random pictures. At a glance you can see some current Africa Night Tilburg pictures randomly on the sidebar.
- From the sidebar, you can like Africa Night (please do if you have not!) but you can also like/share individual pages/blogs on Facebook, Twitter and other social media.
- Of course at the end of all pages there is the current Africa Web TV as an added bonus 😉
Africa Night is not changing things for changes’ sake. We are doing it because they are necessary. As Africa Night is approaching her 17th anniversary in May 2015, you can watch out for more changes ahead. We are determined to make Africa Night a party that is worthy of you our guests. The world is changing at a fast tempo but Africa Night will change at her own tempo.
Thanks for being you!
