Even though Africa Night officially runs from 22:00 to 03:00 hours, by agreement (it seemed) almost everyone arrived around midnight this time! Strangely, almost everyone arrived in the one hour window between midnight and 01:00 hours. Before then virtually no one, after that virtually no one either! What’s going on?
Happily attendance was much higher than the previous month (we had an almost full house) and the ambiance was good. The early birds got the limited edition of the Africa Night @14 commemorative CD while the latecomers just join the fun on the dance floor.
Nijmegen has its own distinct character which is just as well. However a lot of people have come to expect Nijmegen to be a clone of Tilburg. We think this is not fair at all. Both have their distinct characters and it is better this way otherwise the shows will become boring in the long run. To those who keep comparing the numbers in Nijmegen to those of Tilburg, we just like to remind you that Africa Night Tilburg has been going on for 14 years while Africa Night Nijmegen is just in its first year! Africa Night Nijmegen (ANN) will get to where we want it to be in due course. We just need some patience and some love.
Meanwhile we are happy at the progress ANN is making and as always we are open to constructive suggestions. The next coming month will see a subtle but conspicuous change in our approach to Africa Night in general as we take this beauty to the next level. Africa Night Nijmegen will surely be the first object of our makeover. We are going to keep entertaining you in Gelderland and beyond!
