What can we as organisers say except to be extremely grateful for the way the December 2016 edition of Africa Night went. You, our guests continue to do whatever it takes to positively surprise us. You came early and you came with friends, lovers, family, colleagues and all. You came from Groningen, from Deventer, from Maastricht, from Gent, From Antwerp, from Turnhout, from Aachen. In short you came from all over.
It was the 224th edition of Africa Night Tilburg but it felt just as fresh and new as the 2nd or the 10th edition. What’s more, it was like a sea of black! Years ago if we recommended a dress code, only a few joined in. But something has really changed. Nowadays almost everyone always joins the fun. So if you are someone who did not come to this edition, don’t be surprised if you see so many people dressed in black. No, nobody died! We were just honouring the colour black!
Which other parties do you know where party-goers bring gifts for the organisers? Well, more often than not we the organisers are honoured and surprised with some of the material and physical gifts we get from some of the Africa Nighters. This time the back staff of Africa Night Productions was surprised with roses! Thanks Lisa & Sanne!
Talking of being thankful, Africa Night Productions would like to thanks those who made us dance this year. That is as usual, DJ Aziz and DJ Sam who deputised when Aziz was away on vacation. We would like to thank the 2 ladies who are always there to receive the guests. They are the first representatives of Africa Night people see when they come in. Thank you Monique and Maureen! To François, Norris, Nikita and lately Benthe and many more who always prepare the dance hall before we come in, we say a big thank you! If you don’t know whom we are talking about, those are the same guys who are behind the bar serving the Africa Nighters with a smile the whole night. And after everyone is gone, they are the people who stay behind to clean up the place while everyone is already embracing their beds.
The big man behind the whole operation there is Corné. You don’t always see him but you can be rest assured that without him, there would be no Africa Night at Horeca T Kwadraat, the present location. Lastly, we thank the security staff. They are there. You know they are there but they are never in your face like at some other parties. However, you know you can always count on them if and when necessary. The best compliment is when someone says, she does not see what they do. We know what they do. And it is more than saying ‘hi’ to you at the entrance or checking if you are carrying any forbidden stuff. The bulk of what they do, you don’t see. That is the way we want it. Every time you go home safe and sound, they have made their little contributions.
However the greatest gift we receive monthly is seeing Africa Nighters coming in, embracing the dance floor and leaving with a satisfied smile on their faces. A lot of people don’t realise this, but when 150 or more people leave their various homes in various cities, they are making a huge sacrifice for the organisers. They could have chosen to stay home. They could have gone to the local café or even to someone else’s party. But no, they choose Africa Night! We are aware of this every time. We are aware that every time Africa Nighters come, they honour us. They choose us above something else for that month. That is why we are always thankful. Our biggest thanks therefore goes to the Africa Nighters. You are all legends!
Have a happy holiday. We hope to see and entertain you in 2017 both in Rotterdam and Tilburg again.
