Einstein and Rumba!

Sometimes you don’t have to be an Einstein to know how things are going to work out. Like we predicted last month, the April edition of Africa Night Nijmegen was the “up” time on the ANN roller-coaster. We know when the train is going down the valley; we know when it is going up the mountain. You don’t organise Africa Night for 15 years without having some inside knowledge. In short, we had something close to a full house in Nijmegen. But it was the fun that stood out. We had so much it was unbelievable. We’ll come back to that in a minute.

The night got off to a curious start with the DJ held up in traffic and arriving later than usual. Of course we have a backup DJ who made sure the first arrivals could go on the dance floor immediately. Then we had some slight problems with the sound which was quickly resolved and people could do what they came to Nijmegen to do; which was to dance! There were lots of new people and as always, from far and near. And dance they did.

The star of the night was undoubtedly the elegantly tall, young-at-heart, silver-haired man who took control of the dance floor. He was extremely flamboyant in his mannerism and dancing but he was a big joy to watch! He certainly brought colour to the night. We are very grateful for this and we could see the other guests had fun with him too. A big compliment to that Africa lady who joined him later on the dance floor. Together, they shined! PS. Our apologies to the guy though. He had only one wish which we unfortunately could not honour. He wanted just one Rumba song and we could not play it. The reason? We asked later, the DJ did not have it. He would have played it. He promises to have one ready next time!
